SUMMARY:Beyond Engagement: Leading Together in Communities
DESCRIPTION:The policy and planning decisions made in communities are driven by people who hold the most power and privilege. One promising way to create change is through engagement that’s co-designed with communities who have historically been marginalized and excluded. \nCome learn about local examples of inclusive\, cross-cultural engagement\, and hear from community-based nonprofits who have been collaborating on city initiatives.  Speakers will share the benefits of co-designed efforts and considerations for moving away from transactional forms of “drive by” engagement that have historically been used. \n\nHow can we continue to build on progress made to include more voices?\nWhat shifts are required to integrate co-designed cross-cultural engagement practices in large initiatives?\n\n———- \nPresented by Eastside For All as part of the City of Bellevue’s Cross-Cultural Center without Walls. See Event Flyer \nThank you to additional Contributing Sponsors: City of Bellevue\, City of Issaquah\, Housing Development Consortium\, Move Redmond\, 350 Eastside\, Eastside Housing Roundtable\, Amazon\, People for Climate Action\, Eastside Housing Roundtable\, and to our Promotional Partners: ARCH (A Regional Coalition for Housing)\, Liveable Kirkland\, Eastrail Partners\, the City of Redmond\, the City of Sammamish\, the City of Kirkland\, and Complete Streets Bellevue. \nCity leaders\, including staff\, Councilmembers\, commissioners and board members are invited to join in the conversation along with nonprofit leaders\, school district administrators\, and others interested in equitable\, inclusive community engagement. This event is part of the annual nationwide Welcoming Week celebration\, bringing people together from different sectors and backgrounds who hold common goals for welcoming and belonging.  \nFIND MORE WELCOMING WEEK ACTIVITIES IN EAST KING COUNTY
